Interview with Mrs. Wilson

Yes I've been interviewed. I'm excited about it. No I was not asked to be interviewed... it's a meme type thing going on. Jen was interviewed and now she's interviewing me. If you haven't been to Jen's blog you need to go... after you read this one.

She uses punctuation in her blog title... she has a "real" internet address, and she's stinkin' funny!

Okay these are the questions that she asked me.
1. How/why did you make the decision to homeschool your children? (Homeschooling fascinates me.)
I first thought of homeschooling when Adon was still a baby. Dalen thought it was a terrible idea. I am very lazy, unorganized and I am a huge procrastinator. By the time we were closer to school age, Dalen had changed his mind. He knows we serve a great God who is able to do abundantly with his lazy wife ;)
Why we chose to home school? We believe that the bible is the word of God and in Deuteronomy (I'm not spell checking sorry) 6 we are told to

"4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8

We didn't really see how we could do that around school hours. We also are not too keen on our children being influenced by the world eight hours a day and then bringing them home to "undo" it all again. My husband went to a Christian school for the last half of his schooling years and he felt that it gave a false sense of security and felt that the lives of most of the kids there were the same as other worldly kids in public school. Weather you agree or not. That's why we made the choice... that and we can't stand evolution ;)

2. I recently read your post about Emma making bread. Do you always make your own bread?
I feel special knowing that you read my blog Jen ;)
Yes! We do make all our bread "99%" of the time. Sometimes when I'm really tired or sick I'll buy a loaf of the discounted stuff at super store and throw it in the frezer. Even if you're making white bread it's still FAR healthier than store bought white bread. I have started grinding my own flour and making whole wheat bread as well.. it's a bit of an art form, but we're getting it. Now I want to try sour dough. This is a great post about sour dough and this blog in general is delicious

3. Do you love the town that you live in, or is there somewhere else you'd rather live?

I was born in Terrace and I do love it here. It is beautiful. I know how to get almost everywhere and we now live in the neighborhood I grew up in... So I'll know where to find my kids. But I would really love to move some day. Unlike most people I want to move somewhere smaller. I want to live in the middle of nowhere and have a cow. Believe me we have enough people to have a cow. I don't look forward to the whole "killing your own food" thing but for me it would be a worthy trade off. I really like the interior more, Burns Lake area. It is the most beautiful place in the winter and I really do like winter.

4. With your many small (and beautiful) children, do you find that you're able to find time for just you and your husband? We don't go on dates. Our time together is the time we have after the kids go to bed. We're hermits and we're good with it. We have this
We spend a lot of time here together. This is where we visit each other. We have a really good marriage and a lot of that is due to my attitude in it. I have learned a lot about being a submissive wife and serving my husband over the last few years. It's not a popular opinion, but most things that God wants from us aren't ;) If you want to know more about that you can ask me. We are expecting our fifth child in two weeks... obviously things are good ;)

5. How/where did you meet Dalen? It was such an amazingly romantic experience. He walked in and we met eyes and his breath was taken away. Instantly we knew we were meant to be together. Where were we?
Class people, let me tell you. Actually Dalen has since confessed that he wasn't attracted to me. Unfortunately for him, he had this....
and I'm a tire biter. I had to work hard for it ladies, but I got him. SO glad that I did... now I have this...
and this...

Thanks so much Mrs. Wilson! I'm probably supposed to offer to interview other people but I have no time to do that so if you want to do an interview go on over to her blog and let her know. You won't regret it ;) Don't feel like a dork either... she's really not "too cool" like you think.

Dude! You're making me blush :)

I totally loved your answers, partly because you were honest and partly because you're living a godly life (and partly because I'm TOTALLY lazy as well).

I remember well seeing you and Dalen (and others) at Denny's when Adon and Kaylie were babies - good times!! Life was much simpler then, wasn't it?

ps. that tub is GORGEOUS!!

pps. the only thing I don't agree with you on is your love of winter!! :)

I loved reading this post!
When I showed Corbett the Tub he was impressed! (we have a very small one man tub with jets, and he loves it)
Thanks for sharing your heart!
