thank you

Fear not, for I am with you
Be not dismayed for I am your God
I will strengthen, help you
Uphold you with my righteous right hand

And I will praise the Lord x2
For His mercy endures

Thank you, thank you
For loving me
thank you, thank you
your death set me free
thank you, thank you
You never turned on me
Thank you, thank you
My king

you were led like a lamb to that cross
because you knew that someday I'd be lost
hanging there, you died
with all your angels standing by
Thank you

And I will praise the Lord x2
For his mercy endures

What would you name your boy?

So tell me... what would you name your boy?

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

It's....

+

In case you can't see what that says it's "ALL BOY"

Sorry for those of you who are dissapointed... namely Emma, she felt right ripped off. I am the tiniest bit dissapointed, but not really. It's my boy, of course I love him and I'm so excited to know that God has already planned his days.

Psalms 127:3 3Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.

I am so excited that the enemies at our gate will have one more Wiebe man to contend with!

Praise God!!! Now for the picking of a name. *sigh*
He sucked his thumb almost the whole time.

It's hard to really see what he looked like in the face pictures.. I got a good look at him though and he reminded me a lot of Ephrim's Ultrasound pictures. It will be fun to see him in real life!!!

What will it be?

Well tomorrow is the big day. Christy and the kids and I (minus Tristan) will be heading to Kitimat bright and early. In case you don't know what I'm doing there.. I'm getting my ultrasound. I did have one at 13 weeks but its still too early on to check for problem and see what kind of baby you are getting... and in case you didn't know, yes we are finding out. It was kind of a tough decision but I left it up to the family and they all voted a big resounding yes!

So snacks are made, breakfast is ready to be cooked and all I have left to do is fold and put away some laundry and set out clothes for the day tomorrow. I think I'll pack a little bag with extra outfits just in case there are some problems... maybe I'll bring gravol. So what do you think we've been blessed with? A boy or a girl? It will be nice to know if we have to keep trying to find a boy name or not.. I've given up until the tech says, you're getting a boy.

Here's my guess. I think it's a boy. I'll be really suprised if it's a girl, but it wouldn't be a bad suprise ;)

Whatever our new little one is, God already has a plan for them and I keep telling the kids that we need to be happy if it's a boy because God knows what we need the most and he's got a big important plan for this person, who are we to say that God is making the wrong choice?

Anyway my hubby is in from a long cold day of siding and I'm going to fix him up with a cup of hot chocolate and a blanket... talk to you tomorrow!

The harvest is great

And my feet are sore!

Well there has been a lot of food stuff going on here. Sewing is deffinately on the back burner, but Christmas shopping is not. I now have almost all of the kids stuff bought, and thanks to the awesome signing time sale I can give those to the kids at Christmas too.. although it will be hard to wait that long.

So this week I managed to make, 9 pumpkin pies, two empty pie shells, 2 dozen butter tarts (shells made from the pie crust left overs), 8 meal size servings of sweet and sour pork, 6 meal size servings of sweet and sour meat balls and enough sweet and sour sauce left over to do another batch of meat balls. I cooked up a bunch of hamburger that I will freeze to use in spaghetti and sheppard's pie, and about three dozen chocolate chip cookie dough balls (I like to bake them fresh.

I have made four batches of fruit leather and will have to start another batch soon, I got some VERY ripe strawberries today so I will have to clean and puree them tomorrow and I'll freeze them until I'm ready to use them in fruit leather. I have apple/peach, pear, apple/blueberry, apple/raspberry and I want to do apple/strawberry, apple/plum (I need to go pick Laura's plums before the bears come back) and plain old apple. I'm also dehydrating more pineapple and I started dehydrating bananas today.

Next week I want to make a dozen apple pies, start on the fruit leather, more pie crusts, continue dehydrating the bananas and probably make a lot of banana breads, and I also want to make up some raisin molasses cookie dough. Then I think I will be mostly ready for the winter. Oh and alot of apple sauce. I think I still have about 80 pounds of apple left to deal with.

I know that this seems like a lot of stuff and it is, but I just do one thing at a time and it's not that overwhelming, it is tiring. But it's the best kind of tiring there is. And having all these things prepared will make snacking so much more healthy and easy, not to mention cheap.

Okay so I'm trying out home made dishwasher detergent. It's basically baking soda and washing soda. 1 tbsp of each per load and you add vinegar to your little dispencer thingy for water spots (instead of jet dry) from what I've figured it's a lot cheaper and I'm going to also try using the washing soda for household cleaning. It is environmentally friendly and will cost a lot less than normal cleaners. Now I'm excited to try out home made laundry detergent, but I need to use up what I have first.

On a side note.... do any of you (local people) want some garlic? I dont' really have any cold storage and I bought WAY too much when I did all my pickeling. We really don't use that much of it.

Well I think that's all for now. Just letting you know what I've been up to.. I'm really hoping to find our card reader soon so I can start posting some pictures.

Nighty night all!

Next week I want to get the fruit leather started

Wow time flies!

I'm already half way through this pregnancy, although many people have commented that I look like I'm about seven or eight months ;) They've just never seen me pregnant before.

How your baby's growing:Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. She's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom, and about 10 inches from head to heel. (For the first 20 weeks, we use measurements taken from the top of the baby's head to her bottom — known as the "crown to rump" measurement. After that, we use measurements from head to toe. This is because a baby's legs are curled up against her torso during the first half of pregnancy and are very hard to measure.)A greasy white substance called vernix caseosa coats her entire body to protect her skin during its long submersion in amniotic fluid. (This slick coating also eases the journey down the birth canal.)Your baby is swallowing more, which is good practice for her digestive system. She's also producing meconium, a black, sticky substance that's the result of cell loss, digestive secretion, and swallowed amniotic fluid. This meconium will accumulate in her bowels, and you'll see it in her first messy diaper (although a few babies pass it in utero or during delivery).

Milk

Okay so for any of you who are frugal folks there are jugs of whole milk on for one dollar at super store.. I'm guessing they won't last long, but what an amazing deal and they don't expire until the 21st. Milk freezes pretty good and you can thaw it and use it in baking or drink it... sometimes the milk will seperate a little once it's thawed but my kids would never notice. I bought five and I'm wishing I had room for more. This will be my first time experimenting with freezing milk so I'll let you know how it goes if you aren't brave enough to try it this time ;)

note : if you do freeze some milk make sure that you leave lots of room at the top of the jug because milk is mostly made of water and water expands when it's frozen ;)

Making Pie

well on wednesday I'm going to be making pies.. a lot of pies! If there is anyone else that would like to join me I'll probably start around 11. and I'll probably be going all afternoon. I'm going to be making pumpkin pies and apple pies. I'm going to be freezing them before they are cooked so that I can thaw them out and bake them whenever there is a need for pie in our house.... or at a dessert night. Now I'm going to go make some cake doughnuts.

Here's the recipes from allrecipes.com, I'll let you know how they are.

INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 quarts oil for deep frying

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup white sugar

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and nutmeg. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, butter, and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Heat oil in a deep heavy skillet or deep-fryer to 370 degrees F (185 degrees C). On a floured board, roll chilled dough out to 1/2 inch thickness. Use a 3 inch round cutter to cut out doughnuts. Use a smaller cutter to cut holes from center. If you do not have a small cutter, use the mouth of a bottle.
Fry doughnuts in hot oil until golden brown, turning once. Remove from oil to drain on paper plates. Combine the remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar in a large resealable bag. Place a few warm donuts into the bag at a time, seal and shake to coat.

Holy Praise

I will sing holy praise
To you my king
I will give Glory Lord
Before your throne
And your name will be on lips
In the presence of my enemies
I will sing Glory Lord
For you are my king

No one can take it away
For you gave it free
Nothing I could do
Could make you love me
It was only your grace
On that darkened day,
That set me free
So I will sing Glory Lord
For you are my king.

Pita bread

Okay so on saturday I will be making Pita's. I love having Pita kicking around and this is a great recipe for it. I don't use a bread machine to do it but I'm sure it works just as good as without.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/8 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

DIRECTIONS
Place all ingredients in bread pan of your bread machine, select Dough setting and start. When dough has risen long enough, machine will beep.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently roll and stretch dough into a 12 inch rope. With a sharp knife, divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a smooth ball. With a rolling pin, roll each ball into a 6 to 7 inch circle. Set aside on a lightly floured countertop. cover with a towel. Let pitas rise about 30 minutes until slightly puffy.
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). Place 2 or 3 pitas on a wire cake rack. Place cake rack directly on oven rack. Bake pitas 4 to 5 minutes until puffed and tops begin to brown. Remove from oven and immediately place pitas in a sealed brown paper bag or cover them with a damp kitchen towel until soft. Once pitas a softened, either cut in half or split top edge for half or whole pitas. They can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for several days or in the freezer for 1 or 2 months.

Hip

So it seems that things are getting worse in the hip department. Now it's extremely painful to bend, so sitting is no good, and getting out of bed, which I unfortunately have to do... every day. On a plus side, I finally felt the baby last night!!!

I'm very thankful that it happened... I've been having so many discouragements this time around that it's a relief to connect with the little person that God already has a life for.. who am I to complain?

I am now 19 weeks along, almost half way which is crazy to me. The first half has gone SO fast, rediculously fast, and the second half will got just as fast or faster, now there's school, Ephrim's birthday in three weeks, our anniversary in December, Adon's birthday in December, christmas, then more school (I'm hoping to have our language arts finished by the end of January so schooling will lighten up a lot once the baby is here) and then in the beginning of february the baby will come... well probably the middle ;)

Anyway it's already almost time to wake the kids...

Blessings on you today, and if you think of it, please pray for my hip?
Thanks

ugh.... maybe tomorrow night Lord? Maybe in the next season?

*sigh*

Overwhelmed

That's pretty much the best word to describe me lately. Not by anything in particular, just this overwhelmed feeling in my heart. I told Laura that the walls were overwhelming me. It's pretty much the only way I can think to describe it. I don't know if any of you have ever felt this way before.. my guess is yes that some of you have. I initially decided that I was going to try to find someone that would take my kids for a day so that I could just clean, with no inturruptions. Not that I don't like the inturruptions, I just think that for one day during the year, it would be nice. But that's not really realistic, and I'm only going to have more inturruptions as I have more children, so I need to find a way to make some "along time". So tonight I am going to sacrifice sleep. I will stay up and just putter and clean downstairs until I feel as though everything is not overwhelming any longer. I think that I will talk to the Lord and perfect my new Chai Tea recipe. Then I am praying I will sleep peacefully without any "inturuptions" and wake up to a clean, non-overwhelming house with a peaceful countenance.

Now I know that my peace does not come from a clean house and some sleep, it only comes from my beautiful savior, but I think that we can rob ourselves of our peace when we don't make our quiet times with the Lord. I can feel that I need to make one of those quiet times right now. We do our devotionals (almost) every day and Dalen and I usually read the bible every night before bed, but I do not get a "quiet time" every day, it seems there just isn't enough time.. even with my newly organized life, the time that has been freed up has been given over to schooling (which I am so thankful for). I think that this is not a quiet season in my life. This is a season of inturuptions.

And right now I'm going to inturupt my life and close out the world, just me and my Lord, some music and a broom ;)

A new market?

Well yesterday I had a lady call about a nursing pillow. The only thing is that she doesn't use it for nursing. Her mom is bed bound I guess and sits in a rocking chair all day long. So she puts a nursing pillow under her to prevent bed sores. I am really excited to do this pillow, it's kind of beyond my understanding as I've never been bed bound or care for someone that is. I'm praying that this will really bless her and that I'll be able to provide what they'll need. Who knows, maybe there are other people out there that could use this?

Blogger Lunch

Okay so the Biggest Blogger lunch is set for September 22nd at 11:00 am. At my place.

If you need the address then let me know. This is the last time I'm going to plan this event. I hope you all come out!!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

I got this recipe from allrecipes.com. I must say that these are absolutely fabulous. The last chocolate chip cookie recipe that I made was not so fabulous, but there are a marvel of chocolate chip cookie perfection. I used all brown sugar instead of half brown half white...

INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

Untitled Hymn (come to Jesus) - Chris Rice

Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O, raise your head,
for love is passing by
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live!

Now your burden's lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has
washed away the stain,
so Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live!

And like a newborn baby
Don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk
Sometimes we fall...
so Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live!

Sometimes the way is lonely
And steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark
and pours the rain,
then Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live!

O, and when the love spills over
And music fills the night
And when you can't contain
your joy inside,
then Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live!

And with your final heartbeat
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace,
and laugh on Glory's side,
and Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live!

new school schedule.

Okay so this is my revised schooling schedule.

Tuesday- reading writing and rithmatic ;) Art
Wednesday - same as above but with science instead of art
Thursday - same as above but with music instead of science
Friday - Review, work on areas that need attention
Saturday - Science projects and more music and art.

Sunday and Monday is our families weekend. We took today off because Dalen had the day off. He was working on the house so the kids were outside for most of the day with him. For the most part if Dad is home, we make ourselves available to him. If he decides to quit his job then we'll have to change this mindset ;)

Wow, pain

So I think I threw out my back. I was putting the winter tires into the van and on the third one when I lifted it, every ligament in my hips, backbone, pelvic area exploded. So now I'm at home with the children and I can barely move. Sitting really hurts, haven't tried laying down yet. I'm really looking forward to Dalen getting home and I'm also thankful that Emma is so helpful (Adon is at a friends for the day)

But...

WE SOLD THE VAN!!!

YAHOO!!!! (great rejoicing and celebration ensue)

So farewell 99 caravan with MP3/DVD player and gigantic tft screen and welcome 93 caravan with.... built in car seats! At least I can listen to all my tapes now.

Composition?

So apparently I need to find some curriculum for Adon to help with composition, I'm assuming that means writing about things. I dont' know what a grade 1 child is expected to write? He can do his name really well... sometimes he gets the d backwards. I'm a little frustrated. I think that it's a bit too much for him. Any thought people? Any homeschoolers reading this that know what would be good for composition at this level? Thanks

Dr.Appointment

So I went to the Doctor today and all is well. He says to me while measuring "Well this belly is starting to grow!" My reply was (in a very less than impressed trying to sound happy tone) "Yeah" In case I haven't mentioned this before, I'm really not excited about getting fatter. I worked my butt off this winter to get the weight off (a good part of it at least) and now it's back and it brought it's friends, and relatives, and their dogs, and their dogs cousins. Needless to say I'm not too excited about getting maternity pictures this time. And my hormones have apparently changed, so I'm not nausious during the day anymore, which is great, I just puke in the morning and I'm good to go... accept that the new hormone balance is causing my face to break out, so not only am I fat(er) I'm also covered in pimples. Yep I'm pretty excited about my new look.

Okay but one thing I am excited about is having another baby. That's the one thing that keeps me from losing my mind when I look in the mirror, or get on the scale. I really will be suprised if this is a girl, so far I'm gaining just like I did with the boys. That and the fact that my husband, for some strange reason (much prayer) is actually excited about this baby! That's an he's crazy in love with me. I think it has something to do with the clean house and clean underwear. That always makes the difference. Now I just need to feel this baby moving around.

It took Dr.Strydom a long time to find the heart beat today. I was starting to feel a litttle unnerved. But he did find it... that baby has managed to stuff itself WAYYY back deep down inside of me. But it was there... with a heart rate of 130. I with I could remember what the others were like.. I think Adon was usually around 140.

Okay so the ultrasound. Well they are super backed up, apparently is just sill how backed up they are. But I should have a date in the next week. And the doctor said that it needs to be in three weeks at the latest, if they can't get me in then apparently I'll be heading to kitimat. That would really suck... so much money in gas for an ultrasound. I guess their ultrasound equipment is alot better but still... I really don't want to spend the money on the gas that it'd take to get there... oh man would I even be tired.

So my fruit is here. Joni's sister went to Vanderhoof to catch the fruit guy that comes up from the Okanagan. I got 120 pounds of apples and 20 pounds of peaches and pears. The peaches are all made into Jam and there is a pot of applesauce that badly needs stirring on the stove right now. I'm using the pear butter that I made last time I did canning and I'm making fruit leather with it... I'm going to use the apple sauce I'm making for pear leather.. I'll probably do 6 big pots of apple sauce.. once I have enough canned for the winter I'll make the rest into fruit leather. Some with blueberries, hopefully blackberries and some with raspberries.. Then I'll make canned pears and apple pie filling. I'm very thankful that the fruit isn't fully ripened, so I have time to do it and don't have to do it all in two days.

well time to get the munchkins to bed.. God Bless you in your night!

Breakfast

Man there is just nothing that I want for breakfast... OH! Maybe pancakes would be good... OH! I even have canned peaches and whipping cream! I can make roll-ups like at the northern. Now for the ultimate pancake recipes... hmmm... lets see....potato pancakes? Nope. Parsnip pancakes? Deffinately NO. AH HA Buttermilk pancakes II from allrecipes. rated 4 1/2 stars by over 500 people. I think these may be tasty morsels... okay so if you don't have buttermilk just put a tablespoon or two of vinegar into your measuring cup before you pour the milk in.. then let it sit for about five minutes. VOILA!! Buttermilk substitue!

INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1/3 cup butter, melted
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together buttermilk, milk, eggs and melted butter. Keep the two mixtures separate until you are ready to cook.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. You can flick water across the surface and if it beads up and sizzles, it's ready!
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, using a wooden spoon or fork to blend. Stir until it's just blended together. Do not over stir! Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/2 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

How your baby's growing:Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a large sweet potato) and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll likely start noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin and her ears are now in position and stand out from her head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and Fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

So all is well. I'm feeling much better now. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping that I'll find out when I'll get my ultrasound. In case you don't know we are going to try to find out the sex of the baby. The kids are really excited to find out what kind of baby they're going to get.

It will be nice to know to figure out exactly what I'll need for clothes and such.

Anyway I really overheating my pan and I'm hungry. Ta ta

Christmas

Okay so I've started Christmas planning. Some people may think that this is crazy, but I'm on a budget and I'm really busy... not to mention the fact that I'll be 7 1/2 months pregnant at Christmas. I try to start early in the year, then I can watch for good deals, and I'm not overwhelmed for the whole month of December. I can enjoy the season and have special time with the kids. So in the spirit of Christmas I want to know about your traditions, what do you do with your family? What kind of things do you bake? I'm also really looking for some fun crafts to do with the kids.

I don't have a lot so far... I don't think we did much stuff like that when I was a child.

Let me know!

Home School

For those of you who are wondering what we're going this year I thought I would post a little about our curriculum.

Our base curriculum is Rod and Staff. (http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/)I love this curriculum because it is full of morals and godly virtue and based on scripture. It will be a lot more book work than I thought I wanted, but we'll see how that goes.. maybe I'll let you know in a month.

For science we are using Jennie Fulbright's (http://www.jeanniefulbright.com/) Exploring creation through astronomy. These books look amazing and I'll be able to use them all through the primary-elementary age. The thing that I love about them is that they are constantly pointing out God's amazing design. All the projects and experiments are simple and use things that most people would have around their homes.

We are going to be starting our second languages. We're going to be doing sign language and french. There has been a lot of research that supports the theory that the younger the child the easier it is for them to learn a language as their brain is still developing. Alot of other languages use sounds that we do not use, that's why it's so hard for us to speak them. Over time our brains cancel out those sounds in our hearing capabilities, so the younger we are when we start, the more able our brains are to recognize the sounds and use them. We won't be starting french until later on due to finances, we're going to be using Le Français Facile! (http://www.theeasyfrench.com/) for our french and for sign we're going to be buying The Signing Time (http://www.signingtime.com/) movies. We also use this webpage, (http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm) it's an online sign dictionary.

For Music we are doing Rod and Staff for theory, as much theory as you need in grade one. And we're also going to start our own little (very little) handbell choir! I'm really excited about this. I can remember seeing a handbell choir when I was in primary school and it was so beautiful. So we're getting a little handbell curriculum along with a book of music for all the different holidays and special occasions. The kids always want something to do for specials at Christmas Concerts and stuff so this will be really great, and as I told Christy, we may one day become a travelling handbell act, can't you just see Dalen now with the white gloves, ringing bells?! HA!
Well we have a few other things that we'll be doing.. well a lot, of little things. MindBenders, Evan Moor Art, lots of fun science projects and we've been reading the little house on the prarie series so we'll probably be learning a little more about pioneers. I would like to try to make some of the recipes that they made.... like watermelon rind preserves... who knows it may be good?
