Praise Report!

Well you have all proven yourselves as prayer warriors! We prayed for plywood and God sent... $1000.00!!!!!!! That's right!!!! $1000.00!!!!!!!

This morning Dalen's boss handed his a check for $1000.00!!!!! From the Canadian tire Charity fund, he and another co-worker got the checks to help out with all of the flooding we've faced in the last month.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers, and thank you so much Lord for your beautiful works! You are so creative in all that you do for us.

Give him the glory people!

Plywood.

Okay so since we are jacking the house up we really have a lot of stuff that we have to come up with. The biggest exspence is going to be plywood. So I am asking for prayer, could you all please pray that God will provide plywood for us. We need 77 sheets of 5/8 plywood. I am asking spcifically for this because it really is the largest need. There are many other things that we can pray for in general too, and thank you so much for doing that. We praise God for his goodness to our family, eventhough sometimes we don't feel very thankful ;)

Thanks

Going up!

Well I can't locate my camera at this time so I can't add the recent pictures but there is deffinately water in the basement! It's not as much as last time but obviously we can't keep the water out. So it seems that this spring we are going up! We will be taking advantage of Shane's uplifting expertise and jacking the house up.. now it's not completely for sure but that sure seems like what is going to happen. Honestly I'm pretty excited. It'll mean a lot more freedom in designing the main floor which is so nice. Anyway I should run, my bedroom is full of stuff that all needs to find a new home.

Thanks for all of your prayers.

Update 10:45

OKay so here's some pictures of what the yard looks like now. Everything in the basement is either empty or up high so the rush is over... now we just wait for the water, and get pumps ready to go. Speaking of pumps, Wade Wiebe, of Wiebe Construction (a very wonderful company ;) is bringing us a huge trash pump!!! THANKS WADE!!! YOU'RE OUR HERO!!!

So as you can see the water is really coming up!
A river runs through it.... Dalen and Dallas. Dallas canceled his dentist appointment to come give us a hand... and some knees;) Thanks Dal!
Shane and Laura's yard... and another shot of the daring duo :D

The #1 reason to have more than one culvert (which doesn't work) in the entire Queensway dike.

A foggy picture of our helpers.. everyone but Shane.. Thanks guys!!!

Preparing the battle lines.

So this is what my yard looks like right now. All the grey there is water. The scary thing is that about 15 minutes ago the puddle was about five feet behind the tree. It's moving in fast.

Dalen and Shane went to check out the culvert over at the trailer court (it's supposed to be draining this water into the rive) and from what they can see it looks like the middle is colapsed some. So hubby is home for now, town is flooding too, Dalen's co worker, Linda (whome we absolutely love) is flooding, again.

Please pray for us. I will try to keep you updated as things progress. So far Dalen is not worried, he's pretty sure that with our dry well sealed up it shouldn't be a problem. I on the other had am ready to wage a war with the water. I've got my pants on and I'm going to start the organization of clearing the basement again. Thankfully it's all just in one room now.

A picture of the ground by our back door, just for reference for later.

The extremely large puddle in the background there is our neighbors yard. There are a bunch of houses in a compound there and I think they've started leaving again. Last time one of the families lost all of the decorations for their son's wedding, including enough laminate to make a dance floor for the reception. Please pray for us all.. also Shane and Laura's neighbor, Bert, his property is the lowest of all of ours and so he's really at risk.

Thanks all!

Can I live

This video is a true story about Nick's mom. Beautiful!

Update.

Okay so my Uncle is stable, it took a while for him to get there and he's not in pain any more. They are giving him meds to help his heart rebuild and they are just going to wait a bit now and monitor him to see if he need to have surgery or if he can just go home. Please keep praying for him but more than anything please pray for his salvation. No one knows what God's plans are for this situation, so I am just praying that He will put christians in his path. We really don't even know each other anymore and I am not able to go there so for now I am praying and waiting... I don't even know what I'm waiting for? Just waiting! Thanks so much for all of your prayers.

Please pray...

I found out this morning that my Uncle Brian had a massive heart attack last night. He was shovelling snow when it happened. I'm not sure about most of the details but I would really appreciate your prayers. They are stablizing him for now and deciding whether or not to do surgery. Please pray for his salvation and that God would be glorified in this situation.

Thank you.

Insurance

Well most of you know (if you read this blog at all) that our basement flooded last month when the big rain storm came. Tomorrow our replacement furniture will arive. I'm excited but not AS excited as I should be. Maybe once it's here in the house things will be different. Dalen came home with a new surround sound stereo system today (we lost some electronics in the flood too) and he's very excited, it's only a JVC, I know he would rather something higher end, but it was free! I'll fill you all in more tomorrow (friday) after it's all here and set up and hopefully I'll have some pictures too.

Why are you crying?!

Wow she looks like Ephrim!

Anyway, so it was cute then, you even feel sad for them when they have to cry about something... but three years later?!

I am getting frustrated now. We have worked hard on Emma this last year and we've worked hard on how we relate to Emma this year. She was a very selfish conceited little girl, now there is a shadow of that but for the most part she is a ball of frustration and sadness. She cries all the time and has even starting wailing for me at bedtime. I feel sad for her and am wondering what to do next. While typing this I can see that she needs an outlet, she needs a way to deal with her emotions. She still thinks that praying is weird and we're working on that, but I feel like she needs her own private hobby or something along those lines. I'm also thinking that having a daily pow wow with her might help too. A time for just she and I and she can just talk and maybe share a bit about what's going on in her head.

Another concern that I have is that she is always tired, she says it and she acts it. As soon as she is done breakfast she wants to get back into bed and by the time six o'clock rolls around she really could go to sleep.

Maybe she's anemic? I have also always worried about her heart too. Maybe I will get that checked out too, she is genetically predisposed?

Anyway pray for us right now as it is especially hard on Dalen at bedtime and it's no piece of cake for me either!

I really do adore my girl. She is the lovliest thing in my world.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so I don't know what I"m talking about.. I'll add you all to the blog, then you need to get a google account using the same e-mail that you've given me. Thanks

Issues with the blog

Okay so I've realized why people are having problems with getting onto the blog. It's a beta blog and you have to have a google account to use a beta blog. I'm sorry for the difficulties and I hope It'll rectify itself. Thanks

My Saving Grace

Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman

Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner." Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." "Tell me, teacher," he said. "Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?"

Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled."

"You have judged correctly," Jesus said.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." The other guests began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"
Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

I had a very big debt to pay and my account was forgotten, unfortunately I forget all too often the faith that caused me to weep at the feet of a forgiving Jesus.

Bake Beans

My wonderful Mother in Law (no that is not sarcasm) sent this to me today. Part of me thinks it's hillarious and the other part of me is shocked that it's from Momma Jane

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans. Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told him that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans. All the way home, I made sure that I released ALL the gas. Upon my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed delightedly: "Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight!" He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call. The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously. Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage!!! Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself. My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not.

At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused: "Happy Birthday!"

Jaw

Well it seems that I have been a little harsh with my jaw. I can barely use it. Which means that I can hardly eat, good start with the diet! Anyway please pray for me, I'm hoping to get into the doctors tomorrow, and until then I'm doing everything that Laura tells me to do.... hehehe it'll be her fault if something goes wrong ;)

Prose

It's been a long time since I've written anything, nevermind poetry. I was inspired this morning when I looked out my window. Blessings on your day

Blue

Warm inside, we are with you,
Yet outside cold, the world is blue.
The sun, it cannot make its way,
For many clouds have come today.

And so it is, I think, with hearts,
That freeze with cold, and break apart.
And Icicles of hurt that form,
Like bars they keep out love that’s warm.

The ice builds up to form a wall,
And slowly now that creature falls.
Then frost sets in, deep to the core,
Love is not found there anymore.

Yet in these walls there’s no such thing,
There’s peace and joy, and voices ring.
While blue outside, cold and alone,

Here in this place, we have a home.

My new logo!

Well I've finally got it now! Thank you so much Dawn for this beautiful picture! Let me know what you guys think. Do you think the text is too hard to read? Please let me know what you think.

Thank you for this poem Jaclyn!

'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house,
nothing would fit me, not even a blouse;
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste,
at the holiday parties had gone to my waist;
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber),
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared,
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared;

The wine and the rum balls; the bread and the cheese,
and the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt,
and prepared once again to do battle with dirt,
I said to myself, as only I can,
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So, away with the last of the sour cream dip.
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished,
'til all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore,
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Friday, January 05, 2007

Well I sure haven't been getting much done lately. We all (accept for Dalen) have been sick. I am just barely sick but I can feel it coming and if I'm not careful I'll be a goner for sure. It's 10:45 and Ephrim just woke up. We all slept in the livingroom last night so I could be near the children when they were sick. Ephrim has now decided that he doesn't have to sleep in his crib, and I'm tired. I'm deffinately not doing so hot with working my way to a diet. Oh well... what can you do? Just wanted to let you know how things were going here.

Happy Birthday to You!!!!

Today our boy in Africa is turning 15. I continue to pray everyday that God will protect him and give him a family. He has asked us to adopt him, but we cannot. So I keep praying. Once a child is 16 they cannot be adopted in Liberia, so there is one more year left for a family to find him. Please pray for him as well.. he is an amazing boy who loves the Lord and loves to serve. God bless you all and Happy Birthday Luogon!!!
