Cleaning, losing and cooking

Jeff and Trei are coming!!! I'm so excited to see them, and see little Baby Seth, last time I saw him he was two weeks old, and boy did he ever love the wrap! Speaking of wraps, I had six of them cut and ready to sew and now they are nowhere to be found. Please pray that I will find them as I continue to clean the house today.
Baby Seth when we were visiting this summer, 2 weeks old, he had the hugest feet and hands!!!!!!!!

I have taken stock of my fabric and I'm pretty excited by what I found. I will still need to buy some fabric but I have quite a bit already.

I have so much to do. I'm hoping that Dalen will clean up the computer room tonight while I'm making food. We will be having the "group" over for lunch after church. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to make... it will either be turkey dinner or meatloaf... we shall see.. probably meatloaf as my turkey isn't going to thaw in time.

If I'm going to make meatloaf I'll have corn bread, mashed potatoes, yams, corn and cauliflower with cheese sauce.

I want to have everything but the veggies and potatoes done tonight.

Then I'm going to make some pumpkin pies with ice cream or whipping cream.

well off I go.. I'm going to go finish the main living area and then hopefully Ephrim will be awake and I'll be able to atack the kids room.. pray for us here at the Wiebe house as Momma can tend to get a little stressed out.

Exciting News

Well someone wants to sell my stuff. I need to get some stuff together and then bring it down to show her, it's the new childrens' consignments store in town in case you were wondering. The Clever Cub's Den (I think). It looks really great in there! So please pray for me as I get some things ready over the next few days. Part of the deal is that my house has to stay clean... so pray for that too as I work at it today.

Christmas Thought from a Homeschool newsletter.

First Corinthians 13
Christmas Version
If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows
,strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls,
but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen,
baking dozens of Christmas cookies,
preparing gourmet meals and
arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime:
I'm just another cook.

If I work at a soup kitchen,
carol in the nursing home,
and give all that I have to charity;
but do not show love to my family,
it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels
and crocheted snowflakes,
attend a myriad of holiday parties
and sing in the choir's cantata
but do not focus on Christ,
I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child.
Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.
Love is kind, though harried and tired.
Love does not envy another's home
that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love does not yell at the kids to get out of the way,
but is thankful they are there to be in the way.
Love does not give only to those who are able to give in return;
but rejoices in giving to those who cannot.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
and endures all things.
Love never fails.

Video games will break,
pearl necklaces will be lost,
golf clubs will rust,
but giving the gift of love will endure.

the party

Well the party never happened... instead our basement flooded. It was stressful and I'm still cleaning up all our stuff upstairs. I will post some picutres as soon as I have some time. Please pray for us... especially my husband who has to deal with the basement while I just have to rearrange the house and please pray that this rain would stay slow. We're supposed to get another inch today and that's just no good. Merry Christmas! Well I am very thankful that it happened now and not on Christmas day. Thank you Lord for your mercy.

Optomatrist today.

We are going to the optomatrist for the first time today. Adon and Emma will be getting their eyes checked. I think that Adon is fine but I wonder a little about Emma. It is genetically possible that they would need them, Dalen is blind as a bat but without the sonar. So we will see, with my opomatral (I don't realy know if that's a word) discernment Adon will probably end up with glasses, which will probably efffect him even more than the mohawk did. Oh well we shall see? Gotta get ready! Aunty Ruthie is going to come with us so I need to get ready and go get her! Bye!

If you have any pictures of yourself in huge red framed glasses (you know who you are) please post them!

Update
Well so far the children are glasses free. They both have great vision and we'll go back in another year just to be sure it stays that way.
Thank you so much to Ruth for coming with us, it was nice to have someone from Ephrim to glare at ;) It was great to spend time with you again, it's been a while. Looking forward to tomorrow when we get ready to Chewy!!!

The Nativity

I'm really hoping that this will be an amazing movie! The trailer looks incredible! I hope that this movie will become our family's Christmas tradition. I guess we'll see, although it probably won't get to terrace until Christmas is over. Jane has the soundtrack and she said it's great.

The pursuit of happyness

Please watch the trailer for this movie. It looks incredible. Can you imagine getting to make a movie with your dad? I am so excited for this movie and I will hopefully follow suit with Laurie and go see it in the theater. She made a great point, we really should show the theater owners that we want to see movies like this.

On being a help meet

One would think this would get easier. Just when I think I'm doing well some big, ugly, nasty, stinky, slimey, prideful emotion rears it's yucky head. Then you find yourself in the bathroom tearing strip off your husband as he tries to relax in the tub.

"Goodness gracious woman what on earth are you doing??!! Shut your mouth and hope he forgives you for your selfishness!"

"But he said something that offended me and I want to be justified!!!"

"If you refuse to listen to me then I'll leave you alone to this all by yourself"

"Oh crap I did it again. Now what? Hello? Lord? Where did you go?"

Yeah it wasn't a great evening. But thankfully my God and my husband love me and are extremely forgiving!

Luke 16:15 "He said to them, 'You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight.'"

Proverbs 21:9 "Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife."

Proverbs 14:1 "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down."

Next time your hubby offends you please remember your God who will justify you and ask yourself "Is this worth losing my marriage?" It only takes one fight for the missery to start.

If you have been a quarrelsome wife I suggest you get on your face before God and then get on your knees before your husband and ask him what you need to change! I only say this because I have been there. I am so thankful for what God has done in my life, I am a different woman than I was 6 years ago. If you don't believe me, ask my husband ;)

God bless you ladies in you lives with God and with your husbands. Let me know if I can pray for you, and please pray for me!

Six years and counting.

Okay so yes it was our anniversary and Christy requested that I share what we did to celebrate! When Dalen got home (with roses and present in arms) we went out to the Barvarian Inn (had a gift certificate) He had a steak and I had cedar plank grilled salmon, it was basically cooked on a slab of fire wood.. it was too funny. Starla I think the mill could really start in a new market ;) Then I had the most amazing double chocolate cheese cake I've ever tasted. I think I would have payed 20.00 for that alone! So after spending 60.00 on dinner (including tip) AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! we went home and watched Superman Returns and Mission Impossible 3. I really like super man. I was sad that they made him a sinful deadbeat dad, but non the less it was really good. MI3 was a stereotypical MI but good none the less. I really liked the fully automated guns that they had in the beginning, they could see through the walls and stuff and non one had to get killed while the were using them... very smart;)

We went to bed at 2:30, got up at 11:44 called Jane to say sorry we were so late, went for breakfast at The Northern (I was still full from dinner) and went to get the kids. Then we got some groceries and came home.

I cooked for the afternoon to get ready for a get-together and the rest is history!

I think it was the funnest, best night that we've ever had!

What did I get you ask? White roses and a butter dish (Joni, Ephrim broke my crock, I cried, it was so aweful!) It really was the sweetest gift Dalen has ever baught me. I was SO sad when my butter dish broke, it was one of those things that you would NEVER buy yourself. So he went and got me one from Gemma's!!!

I also got to order a CD that I've been wanting to get for a very long time. It's by a man named Nathan Clark George. He is an amazing Godly man who writes about the joys and struggles of serving God, being a husband and raising his children. He and his wife and children travel the states living in a motorhome while he performes. Please check out his web page and listen to the music samples. This man is greating blessed with musical giftings.

http://www.nathanclarkgeorge.com/cds.html I highly recommend you download all of the free MP3's!!!

Second Chance

Today we watched the movie, "The Second Chance". I really loved it. It's about an assitant Pastor who is "banished" to the mega church's sister church in the ghetto. This movie was all about the difference between the churches and how God moved this pastor (and a few more people) do become do-ers, not just hear-ers. It was really well done, who knew Michael W Smith could act? He was very good. Not only did I like the movie I also really enjoyed the previews and I'm looking forward to seeing each of the previewed movies.
Okay this movie was fine for the kids, it wasn't all that exciting for them but they did like it. Be forewarned though they did use the word a** a few times. We do not swear or allow it but I found in the movie it really showed the reality of the situations and I'm not afraid of reality. I would have prefered it without the cursing, but I would still watch it again.
So next time you're renting a movie I would highly recomend this one!

Not much time today

Dalen and I (Tom was taking the picture) at our first Canucks game!!!

Well I don't have much time to post today. The kids and I are busy getting the house clean. Then we're going to head to town for some groceries and then I'm dropping them off at Ed and Jane's for the night. This will be my first night without Ephrim. I'm trying not to think about it too much. I'm really going to miss the kids.

It's our anniversary tomorrow (saturday) we're celebrating 6 amazing years together. It's scary when I think of what we've done in the last seven years since we started courting. Three children, 1 house with many renovations still to come and 5 major surgeries later, we are better than ever! It's amazing how much I have changed and how little Dalen has. I guess there has been a lot more renovating than it thought ;)

I love my man, he is the most faithful person I know. No matter what he is there, wether he wants to be or not. He faithfully provides for us without complaint, and faithfully work on our home, often dealing with a woman who cannot make up her mind, and when she does still doesn't know what she wants.

I praise God for Dalen, he used him to save my life. I'm terrified to think of where I would be if God had not used him in my life.

I love you Dalen! Happy anniversary!

Tommy Boy

First of all let me say that I am SO STOKED for Tom!!! All of the amazing things that he is doing! Things that we all wish we could do and he's doing them! I would never want him to miss out on all of that stuff. But today for some strange reason, I really miss him and I wanted to write something about him and for him, just in case, by chance, he's missing us too:)

I met Tom at Ruthie’s going away party (she joined Tour of Duty and headed off to Afrika ;) We hung out that night; swapped ICQ#’s and I met up with him the next day at Skeena where he was working. After discovering that his green fleece vest smelled like the horse I had growing up I decided that he would be one of my best friends for life. We spent the rest of the summer together. If we weren’t working we were hanging out! We were best friends (not that we didn’t have other friends) and it never changed. Pulling mainers in big blue singing Aqua, Boomtang Boys and every other classic techno song known to mankind!

Tom taught me how to drive a standard, and he coped very well. I first sprained my ankle at Tom’s how because I was periodically obsessed with wearing my backpack under my vest to I looked pregnant (Good gravy I was a lunatic). There were many late nights watching movies, listening to tunes, singing and talking about life.

The greatest part of my friendship with Tom was exactly that, he was ever only my friend. There are no regrets or bad memories with Tom (except watching Blair Witch, what were you thinking letting me watch that movie!!!)

Late nights at Denny’s overdosing on Coca Cola!
Many an A’la mode!!!!!
Where was I for Y2K? Tom’s!
Crab fests!
Back rubs from bass engines!!!!
Remember when the Cop stopped us and reamed us out cause you had a CD hanging from your rear view. HAHA “It’s a potential hazard, something like that could kill you at high speeds!!” There’s one for Myth busters!
I was always allowed to drive the Golf, Tom was the guy that taught me how to drive a low rider!
The Golf!!! Need I say more?
I remember the time you let Pam drive the Golf (man you must have really liked her) I personally didn’t like it at all. How could you risk the Golf that way? She plowed through the hugest pothole!
The bunk beds… how many people could you fit on those things?!
Your baby blanket!
The green pimp blankets (I know that drove you crazy)

Up until the last year we’ve been there for every major event in our lives! I remember when I first got to lead a worship song, you showed up with a video camera. You were there for my grad ceremony, with adidas sandals.
Every birthday, it never failed that you were there, even when you had to fly home (I’m sure it helped that yours was 3 days later).
And of course every wedding there was not just mine;)
And please lets not forget mine and Dalen’s first hockey game! I was fully convinced that I would remain completely composed; you knew better, I think I may have been the craziest person there!

I miss you Tom!!!

Every time we see a red bug, Adon knows it’s just like Uncle Tom’s. I also have an Uncle named Tom and it never fails that whenever I talk about him the kids automatically assume that I’m talking about you!
We love you Tom!!!

Now there are so many things happening and we’re not with each other to share them. You’ve been gone for what nine months now? I know you’ll be back, and I know it will be just like before, but I can’t help but lament a little this morning as I’m thinking about you. Reading your blog and not even knowing who Jess is and why she was at the Fat Camel with you (I’m guessing the girl in the picture is Jess) We’ve got a lot of catching up to do buddy. She'd better be making plans to move to Canada in the spring.

Oh my goodness I almost forgot Chalky’s!!! Ahhh!!!!! Racing, racking and making a ruckus!!!!
I just keep thinking of things, Dumb and Dumber! Oh there's just too much to write!

We can’t wait for Tom, and Christmas will be a tiny sad because we won’t be seeing you. We love you so much here in the Wiebe house!

God bless you Brotha’!!!!

Okay for those of you why are not Tom please comment with your own memories or send me pictures! Thanks! (I can't get blogger to post anything)

If only Adon was turning 10!!!

I saw this today and for a moment I wished that Adon was either turning 10 or that Dalen didn't already have a flash drive!
I wish I wasn't as stingy as I am because I LOVE them all and really secretly (or not so secretly) want them all.. I do with they had Princess Liah (sp?) Well off I go to make milkshakes for lunch ;) Lets see how many calories I can rack up!?

Calories and water intake.

OKay for those of you who were faithful flab&saggers I thought I would post my calories and such just for the heck of it!

Calorie intake 1626
Water intake 7 cups or so.. not great
Calories burned I did 18 minutes of aerobics which works out to 158.4 calories burned, who knew you could burn .4 of a calorie. It's not much but it's much better than nothing! Good night!

On the menu

On the menu for tomorrow morning....

Scrambled eggs with mushrooms and onions
Home made bread with home made jam!
Also peanut butter and cheeze whiz.

In case you're wondering what I'm talk about, I make breakfast every wednesday morning for the cubbies moms at our church.

As for the rest of my day, I will be making pakora, tortillas, and mushroom soup (if I don't get it made tonight). I'm gearing up for a little Christmas party I get to go to.

p.s. Ephrim said "Hi Emma" today. He also said "argeeda hoida garda" the latter one is my favorite!

Dirty Dishes

Laura sent me this little poem and I wanted to share it with all of you!

Thank God for dirty dishes...
They have a tale to tell.
While other folks go hungry,
We're eating very well.
We've health and home and happiness,
And should not fret or fuss.
For by this stack of evidence,
God's very good to us.

Amen!

Gone bananas!

Do not be deceived this box has multiple layers of bananas. I love my bananas!

Well yesterday I had some great finds while I was grocery shopping. The first was Bananas, 40 lbs for $6.00! They aren't even over ripe.. half of them still have green. They will last quite a while and when they are too ripe we will freeze them up and use them for banana bread. I like using frozen bananas for making banana bread. Once they are thawed you just cut the tops off with some scissors and their gooey slippery disgustingness just squirts out of the skin, and they are much easier to mash. Although I do my banana bread in a food processor so that isn't the most important benifit. This is my banana muffin recipe. You could easily make it into loaves as well. Just a note: I don't do the topping on these but I'm sure they would be great that way too!

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 bananas, mashed
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups, or line with muffin papers.
In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins.
Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.

Emma's pushing the mushrooms down into the food processor. She is such an amazing helper!!!

The next good deal was mushrooms. I bought four kgs of them and Emma and I washed them and slicee them all up to be frozen. I love having stuff on hand. It's about half the price to buy the mushrooms when they are on discount and my food processor cuts them up in no time.

It always feels good to see the bounty that God provides! That's a whack a'mushrooms!

I like to use mushrooms in a lot of things. On pizza, in eggs, in soup and I also make mushroom soup. Here is my mushroom soup recipe.

INGREDIENTS
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cups chopped onions
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 teaspoons dried dill weed
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup sour cream

DIRECTIONS
Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Saute the onions in the butter for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and saute for 5 more minutes. Stir in the dill, paprika, soy sauce and broth. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
In a separate small bowl, whisk the milk and flour together. Pour this into the soup and stir well to blend. Cover and simmer for 15 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
Finally, stir in the salt, ground black pepper, lemon juice, parsley and sour cream. Mix together and allow to heat through over low heat, about 3 to 5 minutes. Do not boil. Serve immediately.

My other good find was deodorant. This is the second time I've found deodorant in the discount bin at Super Store. They had all natural deodorant which is usually 6.00 for 98 cents. I bought a bunch of those and they had some mens as well so I got that for Dalen, not the all natural though. That would just be silliness.

God's blessings on your day!

Need diapers!

Okay so I've run out of diapers for Ephrim. I have lots in the bin but they are not really any good! I may try to alter them to get some diapers out of them. Anyway I need to make my baby some diapers. So if any of you have any of the following stuff it would be a huge blessing!

Thanks so much!

Jersey- cotton t-shirts, sheets, pyjamas, with or without images and stuff, it doesn't matter.
Denim- Old jeans, jean skirts, jumpers and the like.
Flannel- Old pyjamas, sheets, anything you may have that's tattered.

If you have any of these it would be a huge blessing. Thanks so much for taking the time!!!

God Bless!

You just thought about a red hammer didn't you?!
If this is not your answer, you are among 2% of people who have a different, if not abnormal, mind. 98% of the folks would answer a red hammer while doing this exercise. If you do not believe this, pass it around and you'll see. Be sure to put in the subject line if you are among the 98% or the 2% and send to everyone, including the person that sent it to you.
