Ephrim's Nod
Apples

So..... I totally missed out on apples this year! I usually get some and I make my apple sauce and a plethera of apple pies! So if there is anyone out there that has some they are not going to use, I will come and pick them and everything. I just wasn't on the ball this year and I know it's probably too late. But it's worth a try!

The Sabbath Breaker
The more I read the word the more I am seeing that being a follower of Christ is a lot more about obedience that just loving everyone. Does that mean that I prefer my convictions over the people I love? No, and if it did someone had better tell me.
Anyway, I'm really not grumpy about the whole thing. I am excited about what God is going in my life and I give him all the glory for the work he is doing in my family.
I love you all!

Here Kitty Kitty!

Okay so after all of the voting and everything that everyone did, we eneded up calling the cat Trap. I was calling her that all day but when Dalen got home he said it was no good. I couldn't figure out why, then Emma asked where "C"rap was. So no Trap. I will be taking your advice and she will be named the winning name which is Thimba. I really couldn't handle it at first. I felt like I was talking with a "Lithp" but now that it's actually her name I'm fine. Wow we like changing names! When Ephrim was born he was Ethan.

The Sabbath Breaker part 3
I hope we can all examine this and go to the Word and before the Lord with our concerns.
Laura has left a new comment on your post "The Sabbath Breaker prt. 2":
"I think it's important not to take too lightly any of the 10 commandments...I think that there's a good reason that they were written in stone.Certainly Jesus didn't intend for us to become legalistic and put the law above practicalities, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sake of the Sabbath. I don't think that anyone would argue against doctors or police officers working on the Sabbath. However, I think as Christians, we can often become swayed by society and change our interpretation of the bible because of it. When I was a kid...before all you young whippersnappers were born hahaha...When the stores started to open on Sundays, there was an outcry from all of the Christians in Terrace. Now, you can find half the church buying their groceries on a Sunday. So, what happened? Had people been starving because they were unable to get groceries on Sunday? Was this a necessary change?I completely agree with John 13:34 'A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you', but I feel that by supporting things like shopping or going to a restaurant on the Sabbath that I'm not showing love to those who are required to work rather than being able to spend time with their families. If I'm running around and cleaning my house on that day, I'm depriving my husband and children of my companionship. Although I constantly fall short of the letter of the law, I can't ignore the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:19 "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven..." A slight change in society can affect Christians so quickly too. If Christians have honoured the Sabbath from the time of Christ until a mere 30 years ago, I don't think I'd want to make the change too lightly or to teach my children to either. I'm glad that you brought it up, it's a good subject to think about.
Ruth said...
Titus 3:4-"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us,not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless!!"

The Sabbath Breaker prt. 2
Charlene Wrote,
"One interesting thought though is that in Luke 14:1-6 it says"And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day? And they could not answer him again to these things." and in James2:10 it says, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
I think that though it was very serious in Moses time to break the sabbath day, it is also important to do what needs done on the sabbath. Jesus healed people and others collected food when they were hungry. If we try to follow the law completely we will always fall short but if we obey the new commandment in John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." then I believe that we will know how to honour the sabbath as we should. Jesus did not stop doing good or showing His love for others because it was the sabbath, even if that meant to work.Personally I take a day of rest if I can as a gift from God for myself as I rejeuvanate for my week. Just as God himself took a day of rest from creating the universe not because He had to but because he wanted to rest. Just my thoughts on the subject. "
Char,
I wholeheartedly agree with you. We are not bound by the law because we have been freed through Christ's blood. My reasoning for posting this scripture was to show just how important the Sabbath is to the Lord. I believe that this man's sin was not in collecting wood but that it was breaking the law in general, he was too lazy to collect extra wood the day before. If we can organize our lives so that we are able to do all that we can in the week to enable us to fully rest on the sabbath, I think this would greatly honour our God. This is something that I am working toward and I look forward to seeing what it does for our family and fellowship!
Thanks for your comment!
Name my kitty.
We have a severe mouse problem so as our last ditch effort we bought a kitten. It will probably take her a while to start hunting but I am pray that God will motivate her. Dalen does not like animals, so for us to get a cat is very exciting! Please pray that she is a good hunter and that I can keep her very clean as Dalen does have some allergies. It would be very sad for us to have to get rid of her.
I will post pictures of her as soon as my camera battery is charged, but for now I need help naming her. I want her name to mean Hunter. She is a girl and she is grey with some beige on her face.

The Sabbath Breaker (ouch!)
Numbers 15:32-36 "While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, 34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. 35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp." 36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses."
Wow! Are we honnoring the sabbath as we should?

Dalen's celebrity look alikes.. and my kids too!

Woo Hoo my man lookslike Tom Cruise! Thankfully he let me make noise while I was laboring! Oh and he looks like Harvery Keitel, wasn't he a mobster?
Now what about Adon?

I like that he looks like a tiny Leonardo DeCaprio!
Emma?

Lucky Emma get to look forward to growing into a femanine George Clooney. But we both got that Amisha lady as a result and that pretty cool.
Okay now for Ephrim.
Okay his took forever to get some results. I think it's really cool that the kids and I even had some of the same results!Well I really wanted to do one with my old dog but it didn't work. Oh well. Have fun finding out who you look like. BOW WOW!
Betty Davis Eyes

I know it's not the greatest picture, I'm gonna do it again with one that's more flattering... But come on! BOW WOW?! Who the heck is bow wow and why do they think I look like him. I am partially offended. The old lady with the curley hair is one thing, she probably did something really meaningful and she does kinda look like my grandma, but BOW WOW!?

Okay so this is my new personal favorite picture of the famous person I look most like.. I don't think there are any words for what I'm thinking right now.
Okay so I did it again with a more flattering picture...

It's nice to know I look like Forest Whitaker. I strongly dislike myheritage.com.
Okay so now I pulled out the big guns...

Okay I'm happy with this one.. this is how I picture myself... Superman's girlfriend. And a queen... not bad, although I'm not really sure who Billie Piper is. But that does make me think of one of my favorite movie lines. "Did you say to him, 'Billy, I love you.'" If you can name that movie line I will be very very impressed.
Okay so one more try. Lets see what creepy people I look like. This one took a little longer, I think they had to really dig deep.

What the heck?
Okay now I'm addicted. This one is from the days of my youth. I promise it's my last one!

Well then. I actually got a repeat, Alexis Bledel. But I honestly don't see the resemblence with Peter Ustinov and it really doesn't get any better.
Okay I should have quit while I was ahead. Now I need to see who Dalen looks like.hehehe

Thank you Lord for bringing your child home to you, and thank you for opening his eyes before it was too late. I pray that you will be glorified in this man's life and in his death.

C3PO
Attack is the first form of defence!
My SIL sent this to me.. she said it reminder her of me....yes I have thrown temper tantrums at my kids... only it didn't have the same effect on Adon as it did on the little boy in this commercial, it terrified him, I can imagine a two hundred pound woman screaming and flailing would be rather horrific! I have yet to try it in a grocery store. Please note how pleased the baby in the buggy is, that would be my little Ephrim.

Just how do you really know?
I often wonder if anything I'm telling my children is sinking in. I want them to be set apart from this world. I want them to think in line with the bible, not with TV. I know that they are God's chosen and that they deserve nothing but the best instruction on God's word, the only problem is that they also need to see it put into practice. This is occuring to me a lot. So pray for our family.
Anyway last night Dalen and I were talking about Adon and he told me that the other day they were out in the yard and they had picked up a 2x4 and it had a cacoon type thing on it. Adon said to Dalen, "We can't use this wood Dad." Dalen just told him to kick the thing off and it would be fine. So Adon said "We can't do that! We would be wrecking God's creation!"
It really reaffirmed me. Not that I think a cacoon is more important than anywork my husband needs to do.
I've also been wondering a lot (I really should just pray about it) if Adon has Jesus in his heart. He is only four. But a few months ago we had a talk and he told me that he was frustrated because he'd say things and he would know that he shouldn't but he couldn't help it his body just made him do it. So I explained that when we have Jesus in our hearts his spirit will tell us when things are wrong and help us to know how to be good.
We then went to visit Char and Josh was "sharing his testimony" with Adon when they were playing, Char and Adam you are raising some amazing children! A few days after that Adon told me that he asked Jesus into his heart because he didn't want to disobey anymore.
So now I wonder, it is true conversion? The more we talk and the more he shares his views of our Lord, the more I think it truely is, and now I'm sad that he did it all on his own and I didn't get to be there. Oh well, he was with his Heavenly Father, he has far more right to it than I do!
God Bless you today!

The Crocodile Hunter.
I just can't believe it. Steve Irwin, "The Crocodile Hunter" was killed by a stingray when it stung him in the heart. He was filming a documentary called "The oceans deadliest"Steve and his wife Terry were homeschooling parents to their daughter Bindi Sue who is 8 and their son Bob is 3. My heart it so broken for this family over their loss. It really is so sad. You always saw him doing crazy things with deadly animals, you'd just assume he was invincible. We are mere flesh.
I wonder if anyone ever told Mr. Irwin about Jesus.
Please pray for this family.
