Christmas Thought from a Homeschool newsletter.
Christmas Version
If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows
,strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls,
but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another decorator.
If I slave away in the kitchen,
baking dozens of Christmas cookies,
preparing gourmet meals and
arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime:
I'm just another cook.
If I work at a soup kitchen,
carol in the nursing home,
and give all that I have to charity;
but do not show love to my family,
it profits me nothing.
If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels
and crocheted snowflakes,
attend a myriad of holiday parties
and sing in the choir's cantata
but do not focus on Christ,
I have missed the point.
Love stops the cooking to hug the child.
Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.
Love is kind, though harried and tired.
Love does not envy another's home
that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.
Love does not yell at the kids to get out of the way,
but is thankful they are there to be in the way.
Love does not give only to those who are able to give in return;
but rejoices in giving to those who cannot.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
and endures all things.
Love never fails.
Video games will break,
pearl necklaces will be lost,
golf clubs will rust,
but giving the gift of love will endure.

Optomatrist today.
If you have any pictures of yourself in huge red framed glasses (you know who you are) please post them!
Update
Well so far the children are glasses free. They both have great vision and we'll go back in another year just to be sure it stays that way.
Thank you so much to Ruth for coming with us, it was nice to have someone from Ephrim to glare at ;) It was great to spend time with you again, it's been a while. Looking forward to tomorrow when we get ready to Chewy!!!

The Nativity
The pursuit of happyness

Please watch the trailer for this movie. It looks incredible. Can you imagine getting to make a movie with your dad? I am so excited for this movie and I will hopefully follow suit with Laurie and go see it in the theater. She made a great point, we really should show the theater owners that we want to see movies like this.

Tommy Boy
I met Tom at Ruthie’s going away party (she joined Tour of Duty and headed off to Afrika ;) We hung out that night; swapped ICQ#’s and I met up with him the next day at Skeena where he was working. After discovering that his green fleece vest smelled like the horse I had growing up I decided that he would be one of my best friends for life. We spent the rest of the summer together. If we weren’t working we were hanging out! We were best friends (not that we didn’t have other friends) and it never changed. Pulling mainers in big blue singing Aqua, Boomtang Boys and every other classic techno song known to mankind!
Tom taught me how to drive a standard, and he coped very well. I first sprained my ankle at Tom’s how because I was periodically obsessed with wearing my backpack under my vest to I looked pregnant (Good gravy I was a lunatic). There were many late nights watching movies, listening to tunes, singing and talking about life.
The greatest part of my friendship with Tom was exactly that, he was ever only my friend. There are no regrets or bad memories with Tom (except watching Blair Witch, what were you thinking letting me watch that movie!!!)
Late nights at Denny’s overdosing on Coca Cola!
Many an A’la mode!!!!!
Where was I for Y2K? Tom’s!
Crab fests!
Back rubs from bass engines!!!!
Remember when the Cop stopped us and reamed us out cause you had a CD hanging from your rear view. HAHA “It’s a potential hazard, something like that could kill you at high speeds!!” There’s one for Myth busters!
I was always allowed to drive the Golf, Tom was the guy that taught me how to drive a low rider!
The Golf!!! Need I say more?
I remember the time you let Pam drive the Golf (man you must have really liked her) I personally didn’t like it at all. How could you risk the Golf that way? She plowed through the hugest pothole!
The bunk beds… how many people could you fit on those things?!
Your baby blanket!
The green pimp blankets (I know that drove you crazy)
Up until the last year we’ve been there for every major event in our lives! I remember when I first got to lead a worship song, you showed up with a video camera. You were there for my grad ceremony, with adidas sandals.
Every birthday, it never failed that you were there, even when you had to fly home (I’m sure it helped that yours was 3 days later).
And of course every wedding there was not just mine;)
And please lets not forget mine and Dalen’s first hockey game! I was fully convinced that I would remain completely composed; you knew better, I think I may have been the craziest person there!
I miss you Tom!!!
Every time we see a red bug, Adon knows it’s just like Uncle Tom’s. I also have an Uncle named Tom and it never fails that whenever I talk about him the kids automatically assume that I’m talking about you!
We love you Tom!!!
Now there are so many things happening and we’re not with each other to share them. You’ve been gone for what nine months now? I know you’ll be back, and I know it will be just like before, but I can’t help but lament a little this morning as I’m thinking about you. Reading your blog and not even knowing who Jess is and why she was at the Fat Camel with you (I’m guessing the girl in the picture is Jess) We’ve got a lot of catching up to do buddy. She'd better be making plans to move to Canada in the spring.
Oh my goodness I almost forgot Chalky’s!!! Ahhh!!!!! Racing, racking and making a ruckus!!!!
I just keep thinking of things, Dumb and Dumber! Oh there's just too much to write!
We can’t wait for Tom, and Christmas will be a tiny sad because we won’t be seeing you. We love you so much here in the Wiebe house!
God bless you Brotha’!!!!
Okay for those of you why are not Tom please comment with your own memories or send me pictures! Thanks! (I can't get blogger to post anything)

If only Adon was turning 10!!!

I saw this today and for a moment I wished that Adon was either turning 10 or that Dalen didn't already have a flash drive!

Calories and water intake.
Calorie intake 1626
Water intake 7 cups or so.. not great
Calories burned I did 18 minutes of aerobics which works out to 158.4 calories burned, who knew you could burn .4 of a calorie. It's not much but it's much better than nothing! Good night!
On the menu
Scrambled eggs with mushrooms and onions
Home made bread with home made jam!
Also peanut butter and cheeze whiz.
In case you're wondering what I'm talk about, I make breakfast every wednesday morning for the cubbies moms at our church.
As for the rest of my day, I will be making pakora, tortillas, and mushroom soup (if I don't get it made tonight). I'm gearing up for a little Christmas party I get to go to.
p.s. Ephrim said "Hi Emma" today. He also said "argeeda hoida garda" the latter one is my favorite!
Dirty Dishes
Thank God for dirty dishes...
They have a tale to tell.
While other folks go hungry,
We're eating very well.
We've health and home and happiness,
And should not fret or fuss.
For by this stack of evidence,
God's very good to us.
Amen!
Gone bananas!
Do not be deceived this box has multiple layers of bananas. I love my bananas!
Well yesterday I had some great finds while I was grocery shopping. The first was Bananas, 40 lbs for $6.00! They aren't even over ripe.. half of them still have green. They will last quite a while and when they are too ripe we will freeze them up and use them for banana bread. I like using frozen bananas for making banana bread. Once they are thawed you just cut the tops off with some scissors and their gooey slippery disgustingness just squirts out of the skin, and they are much easier to mash. Although I do my banana bread in a food processor so that isn't the most important benifit. This is my banana muffin recipe. You could easily make it into loaves as well. Just a note: I don't do the topping on these but I'm sure they would be great that way too!
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 bananas, mashed
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups, or line with muffin papers.
In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins.
Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.
Emma's pushing the mushrooms down into the food processor. She is such an amazing helper!!!
It always feels good to see the bounty that God provides! That's a whack a'mushrooms!
I like to use mushrooms in a lot of things. On pizza, in eggs, in soup and I also make mushroom soup. Here is my mushroom soup recipe.
INGREDIENTS
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cups chopped onions
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 teaspoons dried dill weed
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup sour cream
DIRECTIONS
Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Saute the onions in the butter for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and saute for 5 more minutes. Stir in the dill, paprika, soy sauce and broth. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
In a separate small bowl, whisk the milk and flour together. Pour this into the soup and stir well to blend. Cover and simmer for 15 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
Finally, stir in the salt, ground black pepper, lemon juice, parsley and sour cream. Mix together and allow to heat through over low heat, about 3 to 5 minutes. Do not boil. Serve immediately.
God's blessings on your day!
Need diapers!

Okay so I've run out of diapers for Ephrim. I have lots in the bin but they are not really any good! I may try to alter them to get some diapers out of them. Anyway I need to make my baby some diapers. So if any of you have any of the following stuff it would be a huge blessing!
Thanks so much!
Jersey- cotton t-shirts, sheets, pyjamas, with or without images and stuff, it doesn't matter.
Denim- Old jeans, jean skirts, jumpers and the like.
Flannel- Old pyjamas, sheets, anything you may have that's tattered.
If you have any of these it would be a huge blessing. Thanks so much for taking the time!!!
God Bless!

You just thought about a red hammer didn't you?!
If this is not your answer, you are among 2% of people who have a different, if not abnormal, mind. 98% of the folks would answer a red hammer while doing this exercise. If you do not believe this, pass it around and you'll see. Be sure to put in the subject line if you are among the 98% or the 2% and send to everyone, including the person that sent it to you.
